FAQs for SensorsUnited Science
1. Can I retrofit a sensor into my existing datalogger?
You can retrofit a sensor into your existing datalogger as long as it can collect potential data in the range of -2 mV to 2 mV and as small as several mV.
2. What is the shelf life?
The shelf life is generally 6 months. Different types of sensors have different shelf lives. See product specification for details.
3. What is the lifetime in solution?
The lifetime in solution is generally more than 1 month. Different types of sensors have different life times. See product specification for details.
4. Will sodium hydroxide affect the sensors?
No. But you may take Na+ and OH- interference into consideration.
5. How do I calibrate?
Usually, you can make 0.01 M solution of your target ion and do successive dilution. Record response at each step and make the calibration curve: EMF (mV) versus logarithm of analyte concentration.
6. How frequently do I need to calibrate?
Generally you need to calibrate your sensor every week or every time you use, whichever is latter. See instruction for details.
7 How to store the sensors?
If you use the sensors on a daily basis, store you electrodes in 0.01 M solution of your target ion. If you use the sensors occasionally, you can keep the sensors dry and condition you sensors in 0.01 M solution of your target ion at least 12 hrs before use.
8 How to condition the sensors?
Put the sensors in 0.01 M solution of your target ion and stir for at least12 hrs before use.
